Do you want to get a Breitling watch and you are wondering if it’s a good brand? Well, Breitling is a well-recognized watch brand. But, being a popular brand doesn’t always mean it is good right? Hence, we will answer this question for you.

Is Breitling A Good Watch? Breitling is one of the few recognized independent watchmaker company that produces the best watches in the market at an extremely high quality. Breitling watches are known to show time accurately and are reliable, sturdy and valuable.

There are several good watches on the market. You might be wondering what distinguishes this watch brand from other quality brands. We have done all the research for you.

How Good Are Breitling Watches? 7 Reasons Why Breitling Watches are Exceptional

Breitling watch collections are excellent because their watches are so good that they are on par with luxury watch brands like Omega and Tudor. The combination of Breitling’s accurate in-house movements, bold designs, and innovations make them one of the best watches you can get.

Breitling is the 15th most recognized Swiss brand. What gives this brand its prestige? Breitling watches are renowned for several reasons. We have explained why Breitling is accorded its name as a good watch brand.

1. Chronograph Specialists

Breitling is a chronograph specialist.

They have several mechanical in-house movements. Expert watchmakers build these movements with user-friendly features that make them a favorite with watch collectors.

Breitling has the credit of the invention of the first self-winding chronograph. Functions like dual-time and world-time systems are often added to their watch movement.

2. The Manufacturing

Breitling has an ultra-modern factory dedicated to the manufacture of their chronographs.

This factory, named Breitling Chronometrie, is located at La Chax-de-Fonds. Each movement by Breitling is monitored by a software program that directs it to the necessary work station.

The movement goes through a series of automated stations and manual interventions, for they are finally presented for testing by COSC. A robot measures the precision of the watches by the position of the seconds’ hand.

Each movement is tested for fifteen consecutive days with the controls used in five positions and three different temperatures. Each movement by Breitling must meet a daily variation rate of less than -4/+6 seconds, which is just one of the seven criteria every chronometer undergoes.

Breitling watch movements are therefore guaranteed to be reliable despite their large scale production. Their watches are one of the 5% Swiss produced watches that are chronometer certified.

Their electronic watch models equipped with quartz are SuperQuartz movements. These movements are ten times more precise than standard quartz movements.

3. Instruments For Specialists

Breitling is designed for rugged use, especially in the aviation industry.

This intention is evident in their casing materials and finishing. The cases can withstand impact and full use. More than just durability, quality finishing gives the Breitling watch brand an aesthetic appeal.

4. The Processes

Breitling makes use of top-class metals like grade 2 titanium and 316L antimagnetic stainless steel alloy for the casing.

A cold stamping (swaging) process is used in the production of steel and gold cases, while the procedure is performed hot for titanium.

The metal goes through several of these processes before the final shape is formed. After each stamping, the case middle is heated to about 1100C. In the end, each case undergoes up to 875 tons of pressure.

After the case is thus formed, a machining process creates complex shapes, drill the holes for the push-pieces and crowns. Once the necessary parts are added, the cases are polished, employing the combined abilities of a machine and an expert polisher.

This amount of concern also goes into the production of all the parts of their watches. The level of care makes these watches suitable for professionals who will need watches that can stand a lot of wear.

5. Interchangeable Straps

Breitling has several strap options. You can change the strap of your watch to suit your style. They offer rubber straps, leather straps, and straps made from cloth.

The bracelets made out of different types of metal are also designed for the maximum comfort of the wearer. They are also built for durability.

6. Unique Bracelets

Breitling bracelets produced following specific procedures, offer wearers the utmost comfort. Their unique designs and high-quality finishing gives them a certain appeal.

Machines saw, drill, and profile turn each type of link from four meter long bars. Each link is hand polished for a high-quality finish. The links are then assembled by hand and polished again.

All the links are fusion welded at 3400 C without any material added. The stamped clasp and end pieces join with the two bracelet sections.

7. Sophisticated Dials

Breitling dials are chronograph masterpieces that combine modern technologies and traditional skills. The details that go into the dials ensure optimal reading at a glance like you can get from an instrument panel.

The dials are made from a brass plate with holes and apertures drilled in. The plate is polished and colored until the final results are achieved.

Everything about these watches is designed to make them reliable and durable. If you are looking for an authentic Swiss watch with smart features, Breitling watches are a brand you should consider.

Is Breitling Better Than Rolex?

In our opinion, Rolex is better than Breitling. However, these two watch brands are closely comparable in terms of the reliability, craftsmanship and accuracy of their watches. The winning factor for Rolex is perhaps their variety of styles that can easily accommodate a larger market.

Do you want to buy a wristwatch, and you are wondering whether to buy a Breitling or a Rolex? Let us help you choose by comparing the merits and demerits of both watch brands.

1. Rolex Verse Breitling

Both brands are luxury watches by well-known Swiss watchmakers, generally loved by watch collectors and lovers all over the world. Rolex is a step above Breitling in some ways. Breitling has, however, distinguished itself from other brands in quality.

2. Recognition

If you are looking for a watch that people will easily recognize on your wrist, you should get a Rolex watch. Rolex is the number one most recognizable Swiss watch brand internationally. It is the 3rd most recognized Swiss brand worldwide after Nestle and Nescafe.

While you might not immediately see someone that will recognize a Breitling on your wrist, Breitling is still a comparatively recognized brand. Breitling is the 15th most recognized Swiss watch brand. Any watch lover will appreciate Breitling as the superb wristwatch that it is.

3. Prices

Rolex watches are much more expensive than Breitling watches. The cheapest Rolex watch starts at $6,000. Compared to the $2,000 that the most affordable Breitling watch goes for, Rolex is a more expensive watch to get.

This difference is attributed to the fact that Rolex does not make quartz watches. All Rolex watches come with mechanical movement. Many watch collectors believe in-house mechanical movements are better than quartz movements. However, mechanical movements require more maintenance than a quartz watch.

4. Resale Value

A lot of factors affect the resale value of a wristwatch. The value and recognition of the watch have a role to play. How rare or the iconic status of the watch also plays a role. On average, the Rolex watch has a better resale value than a Breitling watch.

In truth, no wristwatch has a better average resale value than a Rolex. However, you will still get an excellent resale price for your Breitling watch.

5. Smart Watches

Breitling has some smartwatches designed especially for pilots and aerospace professionals. Their Exospace B55 has special intelligent features that will allow these professionals to carry out their duties more effectively.

The Breitling Emergency watch has a distress beacon and locator that likes its name suggests can help during emergencies. Rolex does not make these kinds of watches, and they have not indicated any interest in manufacturing this type of watches. If you want a smartwatch, a Breitling watch is a watch for you.

6. Specialized Wristwatches

Built by professionals for professionals, Breitling has specialized watches for pilots, astronauts, military personnel, and the likes. Their Breitling Navitimer 01 is a classic example.

Rolex also has iconic watches that suit professionals like Rolex Submariner, Rolex Explorer, and Rolex Cosmograph Daytona. Rolex also has a lot of patented innovations.

Rolex and Breitling watches are both excellent. While Breitling is more affordable, Rolex is more recognized. It then depends on what matters to you the most in a wristwatch.

Buy It Or Try It? What Is Breitling For?

Breitling watches are a brand you should buy and not just try. The watches build from top quality materials with a fusion of the traditional and modern. You can easily make a statement with their watches wherever you find yourself.

While some of their collections are better suited for aviation professionals, they also have grand watches for the everyday man. You can visit their online store for pictures and more details for their collections and limited editions.
